The site has an agricultural history dating back until at least the seventeenth century, likely longer. It can be understood as having been made up of several built structures in a loose courtyard farmstead typology adjacent to Morelands Cottage a farmhouse which itself is seen as having specific historical interest with its externally expressed timber frame and its massive gable end chimney, and is considered a non-designated heritage asset.
The core aim of the proposals is to undertake repairs to the existing barn and refurbish it, and to reinstate sensitively a loose courtyard farmstead condition to the site in order that it can become the primary residence for the applicants.
The project proposals include the repair and refurbishment of Morelands Barn, and for the construction of two new adjoining structures and landscaping to the rest of the site, in order to reinforce the character and historical interest of heritage assets resulting in the site being used as a three bedroom family home suitable for modern day living.
